Flights of Fancy on ABC’s Radio National.

A radio documentary first broadcast on 16 November 2014.

Flying from Australia to Europe has become mundane, the experience of squeezing into our seats to bad food and sleep upright has made us forget how remarkable an experience it is.

Come with me on a flight of fancy from Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport to London Heathrow, over 15,000 kms and nine time zones.

You’ll hear tales of flying from the places you pass over; The Kimberley, Indonesia, India, Russia, Poland and more.

Readings are from Alain De Botton ‘A Week at the Airport’ and Ryszard Kapucinski Travels With Herodotus.
